Vision and Goals

Background

AbnaaAlMahrousa for Development and Participation (known as AlMahrousa) was founded as a central civil organization in ministry of Social Solidarity with the number of 821 according to law 70 for the year 2017. However, the civil entity is founded since March 2011 with the goal of reinforcing of economic empowerment, and civil society independence and freedom of action, as well as encouraging citizens’ participation in public life.

Since Al-Mahrousa has been founded, its main concern is to enable marginalized and vulnerable groups to get their rights and have a better quality of life. AlMahrousa aims also to empower civil society organizations, youth initiatives andtrade unionsto find effective methods in achieving sustainable development in the local society, in a frame of human rights and public freedom that preserve all citizens’ rights without any form of discrimination. At the same time, the organization believes that rights and duties should be equal, applied to all, through the rule of law and the participatory approach in development and public sphere.

Vision

Building an Egyptian civil society capable of achieving sustainable development, effectively, and efficiently, to be a reliable partner in public decision making, adherent to rights and duties, and committed to the rule of law and equality among all citizens.

Strategic goals

The organization works on achieving its vision through three strategic goals that enhance its general orientation:

  1. Developing programs that facilitate freedom of civil work, and build constitutional and human capacities of its organizations, especially in fields ofplanning,management,good governance, and advocacy.
  2. Enhancing citizens’positive participationin general decision making, as well as defending rights and general freedom, through programs of civil participatory and through dialogues with decision makers, and raising awareness about civil rights, and reinforce the rule of law.
  3. Building a platform for economic projects, and promoting the official economicalorientation. Also enabling youth to find decent work opportunities, either through their own projects, or through career guidance, and through change community oriented perceptionof the importance of technical and craftsmanship jobs.
  4. Empower vulnerable groups such as children and women in rural communities to get their rights and have better quality of life.
